Job description

The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for monitoring Operations Team Member training development, product safety, product quality, and schedule compliance during operations. He/she is responsible for coaching and training team members to ensure product meet finished product specifications and line efficiencies to company standards. Increase company quality and scheduled attainment while maintaining safe operation throughout the facility. The training specialist will be working with and support Operations while partnering with all support groups.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Plant Supervisors with training and record keeping for each team member in their assigned area.
  • Be familiar with all plant operations processes.
  • Knowledge of and adhere to company policy and procedures.
  • Conducts weekly, monthly, and yearly training evaluations or as needed.
  • Verifies that all training documents are the correct version and re-train if necessary. (OPL’s, SWS, SOP’s etc.…)
  • Supports all activities, if needed, for audits, customer or third party, such as USDA and BRC standards as needed.
  • Assists on training team members on how to set up equipment at start up and monitors training progress during the entire operation.
  • Assist with on-the-floor training by providing coaching, on the spot corrections, and making recommendations as necessary during the entire process for both new TM’s and existing TM’s.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of, and adherence to safety policies, USDA, GMP’s QA, HACCP, Sanitation rules and regulations and others.
  • The expectation in this role is to spend 80% of their shift on the floor; training, providing feedback, and evaluating team members in their assigned areas.
  • Assist in onboarding from orientation as needed.
  • Regular and dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Training and Development Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High school graduated preferred and/or a minimum of 4 years supervisory experience.
  • Able to speak/ present to large groups of people on a regular basis.
  • Able to flexibility with schedule - may have to work earlier/ later or on weekends training dependent.
  • APTD certification or willingness to take continuous education.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks.
  • Investigates cause of product non-conformance and initiates corrective actions in a timely manner. Contacts key personnel authorized to execute the appropriate actions to eliminate the problem and assist in other duties and special projects as delegated by supervision or management.
  • Bi-Lingual (English and Spanish) highly preferred.

SALARY:      Level 7 - $21.78 TO $29.40 PER HOUR (DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE)
