Job description

Position: Safety Coordinator
Reports to: Safety Manager
Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Pay Range: $32.00 - $45.00 per hour (Eligible for Overtime)
We consider several factors when preparing a compensation package for successful candidates.
Superior is looking for a Construction Safety Coordinator to ensure that every team member on our job sites is safe and secure. The Construction Safety Coordinator position will maintain safe conditions for people and property, assist with investigating accidents, and support emergency response. This role is based on a jobsite in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate across the jobsite with Field Operations and Project Operations team members, as well as the general contractor and other trade partners
  • Assist with the collection of safety records following trainings sessions
  • Document all injuries, incidents, and near misses
  • Sign daily paperwork to verify proper hazard and mitigation assessment
  • Monitor large construction sites and enforce compliance with government rules & regulations
  • Complete audits and daily reports describing activities completed, issues, etc.
  • Stay up-to-date with safety policies and trends, i.e. meeting the latest safety standards and establishing new ones from time-to-time as newer risks are discovered
  • Attend all safety meetings on the job sites

Your Expertise
  • Required: You have at least 1 year of safety experience in construction OR 5 years of field/project experience on a commercial construction site OR a degree in Occupational Health and Safety (or completed an apprenticeship program)
  • Required: You have a First Aid/CPR certification
  • Required: You have completed the OSHA 10-hour construction training course
  • Bonus Points: You have completed the OSHA 30-hour construction training course
  • Bonus Points: You have a safety credential through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (e.g., CHST) or are actively working toward certification
  • Bonus Points: You have electrical construction experience
