JOB SUMMARY
The Electro-Mechanical Apprentice is responsible for learning and maintaining production, quality performance levels and the efficient use of manufacturing equipment in accordance with his /her knowledge and training in conformance with established work instructions, standard operating procedures, and good manufacturing practice. A minimum of 2 years of training is required. Training must occur on 1st shift. No maximum time on training unless a position is open. Passing an assessment is required to qualify and to move up. The assessment will include troubleshooting equipment breakdowns.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshoots, installs and repairs equipment and machinery in accordance with SOP's and WI's.

  1. Expected to adhere to all safety rules in accordance with SOP's, GMP as well as federal, state and local safety regulations.

  1. Regular attendance and punctuality required in order to meet production needs of customers.

  1. Expected to demonstrate our Company values and Code of Conduct.

  1. Periodically participates in department or shop floor meetings. Suggests improvements and works alone or with others to implement improvements, as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Learning to perform troubleshooting production equipment, learning from Electro-Mechanics
  2. Learn to run conduit, wiring outlets, breakers, transformers, and lighting
  3. Learn to rebuild rack and pinion on presses
  4. Work directly with mechanics on minor/major repairs
  5. Under direct supervisor of a Crew Leader, Performs scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, cleaning and repairs of machinery and equipment
  6. Under direct supervisor of a Crew Leader, Troubleshoot and repair various electrical wiring, switches, relays, contactor, starters, AC / DC drives and motor
  7. Under direct supervisor of a Crew Leader, Troubleshoot hydraulic valves and cylinders and replace or repair as needed.
  8. Maintains required records, logs, etc. with regard to inspections, testing, maintenance, installation and repairs of equipment and machinery.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School or GED equivalent is required
  • Completion of Electrical program or 2 years' experience in manufacturing maintenance
  • Licensure in the following a plus: forklift; plumbing; electrical or boiler operator

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to speak, read and write English in order to understand operating and other related procedures and to complete all position related documentation.
  • Mechanical and Electrical ability
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints
  • Ability to handle hazardous chemicals
  • Knowledge of hydraulics
  • Basic knowledge of how production equipment operates
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic skills.
  • Performs basic computer skills
  • Ability to learn and implement GMP, SOPs and other procedures.
  • Must be able to acquire a White Seal/Special NJ Boiler Operator

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work conditions are those that are present in normal manufacturing environment.
This position requires standing for prolonged periods of time (8+ hours, with scheduled breaks) with frequent bending and kneeling; lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs and pushing and pulling of 50lbs. Technicians will experience substantial movements (motions) of arms, hands, wrists, and/or fingers. Mechanics may also climb ladders and step stools.
Business needs require that the employee in this position work an established 40 hours workweek and work additional hours outside of the standard schedule as production needs arise.
Personal protective equipment must be worn where required. Depending on work location, closed toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves or protection from high noise levels in needed. To ensure products satisfy the required quality levels and that operators are consistently efficient and effective, employees must wear protection clothing such as company provided and maintained uniform, coverall, frock, hair net, beard cover, etc in certain areas of the facility.
