Position Purpose Summary - In addition to being capable of performing all tasks assigned to Toolmaker, this position is required to perform the following:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Comply with all federal and state environmental, health and safety regulations as well as any safety policies and protocols outlined by the company.
Set up and operate various manual and CNC equipment to produce all types of molds, dies, fixtures, gauges and cutting tools.
Perform highly diversified machining of complicated molds and tooling.
Must be proficient at manual machining and milling complex tooling projects.
Capable of performing all complex Wire EDM work
Capable of holding intricate tolerances on all tooling being produced.
Check blueprints and configure mathematical calculations necessary to correct or complete tooling.
Capable of all miscellaneous and complex grinding operations.
Provide feedback and aid Tool Designers to improve the manufacturing of all tooling.
Work in a team environment, supporting successful work transition from shift to shift and interacting in a professional and productive manner with team members, Management, Engineers, Inspection, CAM Programmers, Tool Designers, Elastomer Technicians, Injection Mold and Composite Mold Technicians.
Perform the above tasks without Supervision while producing quality tooling within the estimated manufacturing costs.
Record all Information on GT data collection system as required.
Make revisions and repairs to all types of tooling as necessary.
Perform miscellaneous duties in the Tool Shop as assigned.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and safety shoes.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Give direction to lower class employees who are involved in the manufacture of tooling.
Assist Tool Maintenance Machinists in the Mold Prep/Weld areas as required
Perform 5S functions, including but not limited to:

  • Keep fluids (coolants, oil, etc.) of equipment at recommended levels.
  • Ensure tools are properly placed and clean.
  • Participate on teams
  • Clean equipment
  • General housekeeping in department.

Notify Supervisor of any problems which occur in the manufacture of molds, dies, and fixtures, along with cutting tools and gauges.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma / GED or equivalent experience
Must have attained Greene, Tweed & Co. Toolmaker Level 2 or equivalent, as determined by management.

  • To bid on this job candidate must have a minimum of 1 year as a Toolmaker Level 1 combined with 4-5 + years relevant machining experience as determined by management.
    • Two (2) years of the four (4) year apprenticeship program (3 years apprenticeship/1 year Gr 13) can apply as relevant experience.
  • Must be proficient with operating computers, including searching, saving, and editing files
  • Demonstrated ability to independently read and interpret production drawings, work instructions, Company documents and other specified requirements essential for performing standard job functions


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without the use of mechanical lifting devices or assistance from others.
Ability to work for long periods of time in standing position.
Perform job in compliance with the Company's Quality Policy (ISO 9000).
Perform job in a safe manner.
