As a Product Applications Engineer, based in Middlefield (CT), you will serve as a key technical expert supporting ZYGO's optical metrology solutions. In this highly collaborative and customer-facing role, you will work closely with Sales, Product Management, and Engineering teams to support pre- and post-sales activities, develop application solutions, and deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as a customer-facing technical expert for ZYGO's metrology instrumentation
  • Support sales efforts through sample measurements, instrument demonstrations, and technical reporting
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Innovation teams to drive application strategies, resolve technical issues, and enhance product capabilities
  • Coordinate and support global rollout of application solutions, including training regional teams
  • Deliver onsite and remote customer training; support technical events, tradeshows, and conferences
  • Troubleshoot complex customer applications and provide tailored measurement solutions
  • Evaluate product performance from a user perspective and provide actionable feedback
  • Identify and develop new applications and use cases for ZYGO technology
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including application notes, presentations, and training materials

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. in Optics, Physics, Engineering, or related field
  • 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Applications or Systems Engineering experience in a B2B equipment environment
  • Customer-facing technical support experience (pre- and post-sales)
  • Experience with metrology, precision instrumentation, or optical systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills in complex or ambiguous environments
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts clearly
  • Programming experience in Python or related languages
  • Familiarity with CAD and/or optical modeling tools
  • Willing to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
