Job description

Summary: This position is responsible for providing technical application assistance and clarification for customers, Sales and Customer Relations personnel. Primary tasks include:

  1. Product selection for customer applications
  2. Project management for product modifications or new assemblies
  3. Testing and trouble shooting customer applications

Essential Functions of the Job: The essential functions of this job require the person, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform the following:


  • Serve as the primary technical communication link with customers to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Review customer specifications to assist the customer and Customer Relations in defining the proper air-moving device for specific applications.
  • Provide application assistance to Sales personnel and customers.
  • Provide technical clarification of communications and documentation for or to our factories and regional sales offices, distributors, Customer Relations and customers.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of all products sold by ebm-papst Inc.
  • Visit customers and suppliers as required – typical travel is about 2 weeks per year.
  • Conduct technical discussions with customers, Sales personnel, Customer Relations and other ebm-papst personnel.
  • Assist customers, Sales personnel and Customer Relations in cross-referencing competitor products to products sold by ebm-papst.
  • Provide technical support, for assigned territories to Management, Sales personnel and the sales territories.
  • Manage assigned projects as the key technical person. Work with the respective Sales and Customer Relations personnel concerning commercial issues. Work with Manufacturing, R&D, and Quality personnel concerning design and technical issues.
  • Be capable with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software. Be capable of learning additional GUI-based software.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Recommended Qualifications and Experience: An excellent candidate will exhibit the following:

  • Good communication skills via phone, email, and in person.
  • Good organization skills to stay on top of multiple projects at a time.
  • Good project management skills to keep a team on track.
  • Capability with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software. Capability of learning additional GUI-based software.
  • Fluency in English. Multilingual a plus, especially in Spanish, Portuguese, French, and/or German.
  • Some combination of technical experience and/or education:
  • 4+ years of mechanical and/or electrical related experience,
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or
  • Some combination of higher education and experience.
