Job description

Fulltime Opportunity

Role: L2 Application Support Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite)

Duration: FTE

JD:

  • L2 Support experience is a must.
  • Master the understanding of our Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) and sev-2 policies and procedures & actively provide support and information during these outages/events.
  • Daily monitoring and prompt alert response to ensure business-critical applications are up and running as expected.
  • Coordinate with development teams to identify and address bugs, product teams on new functionality and workflow issues, and resolving escalated end-user incidents.
  • Lead collaboration with Dev, Server Team, et al, to maintain and improve Observability (New Relic, SCOM, et al), Monitoring & Alerting.
  • Become an expert at Problem Management processes and ensure adherence.
  • Continual Improvement - Recognize system and process inefficiencies and working cross-functionally to recommend improvement actions.
  • Creation/modification/upkeep of SQL & Powershell Scripts.
  • Creation/modification/upkeep of Team's Knowledge Base.
  • Ownership of vertical cross-training & knowledge-transfer.
  • Application Support representative for projects (backup for team lead).
  • Operational alignment with UPS stakeholders (operational reviews, incident escalation).
  • Act as an escalation point for junior members in troubleshooting complex technical issues (checking services, logs, developer input, etc.)
  • Perform active (self & team) queue management (incident, problems, tasks, changes), ensuring timely updates, escalations and resolution.
  • Provide after-hours and on-call support as needed on a rotating schedule.
