Position Summary:ย ย 

The Technical Apparel Designerย is responsible forย designing and developing high-performance apparel that meetsย Eberlestock'sย standards for quality, durability, functionality, andย fit. This role partners closely with Product Management, Product Development, and manufacturing partners to transform product concepts into production-ready garments that perform in demanding outdoor environments.ย 

The ideal candidateย possessesย a strong understanding of garment construction, technical fabrics, fit, and manufacturing processes, whileย maintainingย a passion for creating innovative products that support hunters, military professionals, law enforcement, and outdoor enthusiasts.ย

Key Responsibilities:ย 

  • Design and develop technical apparel from concept through production while ensuring products align withย Eberlestock'sย brand standards and product strategyย 

  • Create andย maintainย detailed technical packages including garment specifications, construction details, bill of materials, measurement specifications, grading, and fit commentsย 

  • Specify technical fabrics, trims, insulation, waterproof technologies, and garment components based on intended product performanceย 

  • Develop apparel systems that balance comfort, durability, weather protection, mobility, weight, and packabilityย 

  • Design garments that integrate effectively with backpacks, load carriage systems, optics, and other technical equipmentย ย 

  • Partner with Product Management to ensure product designs meet customer needs, target pricing, and overall productย objectivesย 

  • Lead garment fit sessions and document revisions to ensure consistent fit, comfort, and performance across all size rangesย ย 

  • Collaborate with domestic and overseas manufacturing partners to communicate design intent, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure quality standards areย maintainedย ย 

  • Coordinate prototype evaluations and incorporate feedback from field testing, athletes, ambassadors, and internal stakeholders into future product revisionsย 

  • Monitor product quality throughout development and production whileย identifyingย opportunities for continuous improvementย 

  • Maintain project timelines and ensure deliverables are completed according to seasonal product development calendarsย ย 

  • Stay informed of industry trends, emerging materials, manufacturing technologies, and competitor products to support continued product innovationย 

Requiredย Qualifications:ย 

  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Fashion Design, Textile Engineering, Product Development, or a related field, or equivalent professional experienceย 

  • 3+ย years of experience in technical apparel design, product development, or apparel engineeringย 

  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, grading, fit development, and manufacturing processesย 

  • Experience creating technical packages using Adobe Illustrator or similar design softwareย 

  • Working knowledge of performance fabrics, waterproof technologies, insulation systems, and garment construction techniquesย ย 

  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple development projects simultaneouslyย 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skillsย 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and international manufacturing partnersย 

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product qualityย 

  • Experience designing hunting, tactical, military, backpacking, mountaineering, or outdoor performance apparelย 

  • Familiarity with waterproof/breathable technologies, seam sealing, bonding, and advanced garment construction methodsย ย 

  • Experience working directly with overseas manufacturing partnersย 

  • Knowledge of camouflage systems, technical hunting apparel, and load carriage integrationย 

  • Personal experience hunting, backpacking, mountaineering, orย participatingย in other demanding outdoor pursuitsย 

  • Abilityย to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally, including visits to manufacturing partners, field testing events, and other business-related activitiesย
