AP Supervisor
Reporting To: Manager
Direct Reports: Yes
Status: Full Time

Job Purpose:
Accounts Payable Supervisor leads a team of accounts payable employees. In this role you are responsible for the payments and expenditures from multiple departments and locations. Ensure finances are accurate and up to date. Handle miscellaneous deposits and buy-outs from vendors, and complete the following tasks:
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Overlook accounts payable transactions to ensure municipal finances are maintained in an effective and accurate manner.
  • Make sure employees reconcile errors and discrepancies properly.
  • Handle miscellaneous deposits.
  • Create and publish the availability report.
  • Process the daily inventory adjustment report.
  • Handle buy-outs from various locations.
  • Train employees and guide them with decisions and processes.
  • Assist with invoicing and reconciliation when the workload demands.
  • Handle vendor credits.
  • Maintain the monthly journal.
  • Assist auditors when they come; provide them with invoices and pricing information.
  • Maintain historical records by filing documents.
  • Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Hire and train new AP employees.
  • Lead efforts to maintain security and safety procedures for AP employees.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting / AP
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
  • Must be able to work well in a group environment
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication
  • Must have strong customer service skills
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized in work
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines

Environmental/Occupational Health and Physical Requirements: Typical 9-hour day to include walking, sitting, squatting, and lifting. To perform the duties of this job the employee must be capable of working in an office environment. Some lifting of 50lbs or more may be required.
