Job description

This opportunity is with a leading Data Center Solutions company experiencing rapid growth. They are responsible for ground-up construction of data centers and ongoing facility management.

Summary

The Accounts Payable Supervisor, Construction is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the construction accounts payable function, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, subcontractor pay applications, and project-related payments. This role provides leadership to the AP team, maintains strong internal controls, supports month-end close activities, and partners closely with Construction Accounting, Project Management, Treasury, and vendors to drive efficiency, compliance, and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily construction accounts payable operations, including workload management, review, and support of AP team members.

  • Oversee processing of high-volume vendor invoices, subcontractor invoices, and construction pay applications.

  • Review invoices and payment requests for accuracy, coding, approvals, contractual compliance, and supporting documentation.

  • Ensure payments comply with contracts, purchase orders, change orders, payment terms, retainage requirements, and other construction-specific payment processes.

  • Partner with Project Managers, Construction Accounting, Project Controls, Treasury, and vendors to resolve payment and invoice discrepancies.

  • Monitor AP aging, investigate outstanding items, and resolve discrepancies, duplicate payments, and reconciliation issues.

  • Reconcile AP subledger activity to the general ledger and support vendor statement, bank, and account reconciliations.

  • Coordinate accounts payable activities related to month-end and year-end close, audits, accruals, and reporting.

  • Maintain vendor onboarding and master data processes while ensuring compliance with internal controls and approval requirements.

  • Develop and enhance AP procedures, reporting, controls, and process improvement initiatives.

  • Track AP metrics and operational performance, including invoice workflows, approval status, and aging reports.

  • Coach, develop, and cross-train AP team members while promoting accountability and operational excellence.

  • Support system enhancements and automation initiatives within NetSuite, Procore, Coupa, and other procure-to-pay platforms.

  • Serve as a key contact for construction AP inquiries and special projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

  • 6+ years of progressive Accounts Payable experience.

  • 2+ years of AP leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.

  • Experience supporting construction, engineering, real estate development, general contracting, data center construction, or other project-based industries strongly preferred.

  • Strong NetSuite experience required; Procore and Coupa experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of AP operations, reconciliations, month-end close processes, internal controls, and accounting fundamentals.

  • Experience with construction invoices, subcontractor pay applications, retainage, change orders, and related payment workflows.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal stakeholders, vendors, and leadership teams.
