Job description

The Airline and Transportation Partnerships team within Global Partnerships and Marketing is responsible for managing and growing American Express Travel's relationships with airline suppliers globally. This team leads a portfolio of airline partners, negotiating commercial agreements that optimize supplier economics while delivering differentiated value to American Express Card Members.

The role focuses on maximizing engagement with a portfolio of suppliers, expanding participation in programs that offer exclusive benefits, and enhancing the end-to-end travel booking experience. The team also oversees Amex Travel's proprietary fare programs, including Platinum Member Airfares and Insider Fares, ensuring competitive pricing and compelling value for customers.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for working cross-functionally within American Express to increase sales, to increasengagement with Amex Travel, and working to improve Card Member engagement with airline-focused card benefits.

  • Exceptional communicator, with the ability to influence and drive decisions with external partners across the enterprise

  • 3+ years partner management experience; prior experience in Airline Sales is preferred
  • This role is hybrid and based in New York City 

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for this position.

  • Manage a portfolio of airline accounts by driving growth opportunities and overseeing day-to-day Account Management responsibilities (eg. Addressing Card Member complaints, managing partner escalations, negotiating contracts, selling sponsorships, and partnering with Operations Analysts to support operational issues like fare filing and inventory availability)
  • Drive partner engagement through relationship management, account reviews, and identification of strategic opportunities to grow the Amex Travel airline business through marketing and agent engagement.
  • Collaborate with international counterparts within the GPM Air Partnerships team to develop global account management strategies for key airlines.
  • Collaborate across the enterprise with Membership Rewards, Strategic Partnerships, Premium Card Products, Co-Brand, Global Merchant Services, etc. to identify opportunities to drive growth and to support American Express enterprise priorities.
