Job description

This is a Full-Time role based at Philadelphia Distilling in Philadelphia, PA. This position requires you to work Wednesday - Sunday each week.

What the Role Is

Opened in 2005, Philadelphia Distilling is the first craft distillery built in Pennsylvania since the Prohibition era. We believe passionate spirit drinkers appreciate high-quality, American-crafted spirits. Thus, Philadelphia Distilling educates the public through its historically based brands, while delivering the finest handcrafted premium spirits and botanicals. We are craft cocktail oriented and showcasing what we make in house is the focus of our seasonal cocktail programming.

The distillery's flagship brand, Bluecoat American Dry Gin, has been the recipient of numerous awards including the coveted "BEST GIN" and "DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL" from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, along with critical acclaim from The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, Wine Enthusiast, Imbibe Magazine and GQ Magazine.

Philadelphia Distilling has a beautiful tasting room and enclosed patio capable of hosting over 150 people as well as an exclusive 65-seat 4th floor private events space. After a dedicated prep day on Wednesday, we run regular bar service Thursday-Sunday, often with concurrent private events. Additionally, we regularly host full buyout weddings and corporate events in addition to our smaller events throughout the year. Because our mission revolves around brand advocacy and outreach, we also have a robust offsite event/tasting program that could require local travel.

The bartender will be responsible for entertaining & educating guests, providing effective beverage service and maintaining the bar’s cleanliness and overall appearance.

This ensures that every guest receives service from a capable and informed cocktail bartender even if they are not sitting at the bar. All tips are pooled and shared evenly regardless of daily role assignment.
  • Provide an exceptional guest experience and connect with visitors through brand education and cocktails elections from our seasonal menu or curated off-menu drinks, while always maintaining a positive guest/customer relation
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of fall Philadelphia Distilling products, along with classic and modern classic cocktail understanding
  • Execute proper bartending techniques while preparing a wide variety of cocktails, ensuring accuracy in recipes, garnishes, ingredients, portion sizes, replication, and presentation to the standards of our cocktail program
  • Work together with the rest of the front-of-house team and maintaining efficient work pace to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Help develop new bar offerings such as new seasonal cocktails and specials
  • Maintain the highest health standards, hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness in the beverage/bar area to meet local, state and government guidelines.
  • Strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated individuals, and driving while under the influence.
