Job description

Angus Genetics Inc., a subsidiary of the American Angus Association, is now accepting applications for a Customer Service Representative in its St. Joseph, MO office. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service regarding genetics to Association members and breeders through regular communication. The collection, tracking and storing of DNA samples (blood, hair, tissue, semen, etc.) is a regular part of the job. The position is also responsible for preparing and entering information into the Association database.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for effective communication with customers, both external (members/breeders) and internal (fellow employees), via telephone, email, fax and Message Center.
  • Set up daily work by organizing incoming mail for data entry processing.
  • Enter work into system, which could include data entry for test orders and corrections.
  • Sorting and bundling DNA samples for shipping to the labs, bundling and scanning DNA samples into the database and pulling DNA samples from the archives for additional testing.
  • Handle requests to identify member codes required for specific transactions.
  • Matching invoices up with work being processed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent communication skills, including telephone, written and presentation skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to listen.
  • Must show patience and tact with members and breeders during calls.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and execute multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to solve problems and retain information.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of speed and accuracy while performing tasks in an appropriate time frame.
  • Must be comfortable with computers and other technology.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn is a must.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree in Business or Agricultural Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Work experience in an office setting and/or customer service role is preferred.
  • An agricultural background is a plus but is not required.
