Public Safety Officer - Multiple Shifts Available
Are you ready to make a difference in a campus community that values service, professionalism, and care? St. Ambrose University is seeking dedicated Public Safety Officers to join our team. The current opening is for the evening and/or overnight shift.
As a Public Safety Officer, you'll help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Through proactive patrols, emergency response, and community engagement, you'll be an essential part of our commitment to fostering a secure and inclusive campus.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol campus buildings, grounds, and parking areas to promote safety and deter crime
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, incidents, and calls for assistance
  • Prepare clear and detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records
  • Provide leadership and guidance to student and part-time security personnel
  • Engage with the campus community through respectful and visible presence
  • Support campus events and maintain readiness for emergencies

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional security or law enforcement training preferred
  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is a plus
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure
  • Physical ability to patrol campus on foot, lift up to 50 lbs., and respond quickly to emergencies
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed
  • Must pass a background check

Working Conditions: This position involves both indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions. Officers serve fixed shifts to ensure 24/7 campus coverage.
