Description: To provide instruction to students who need an alternative setting

Qualifications:

  • Teaching license (secondary 5-9)
  • Understanding and commitment to urban education and communities
  • Strong technological skills
  • Strong communication skills with various audiences (parents/guardians, students, teachers, administrators)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and problem solving
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skill.


Basic Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Provide instruction middle school students in an alternative setting.
  2. Supports student behavioral needs, as necessary.
  3. Keep principal informed of potential problems or unusual situations.
  4. Handle routine discipline referrals and refer serious situations to Principal.
  5. Contact parents as needed and participate in parent conferences.
  6. Communicate with Principal related to discipline referrals.
  7. Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
  8. Model and maintain high ethical standards.
  9. Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
  10. Respond to inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
  11. Demonstrate support for school, its goals, and objectives.
  12. Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to the position.
  13. Other duties as assigned.
