Job description

LPN or CMA Position

Position Purpose: The LPN or CMA is responsible for providing direct or indirect nursing care to patients who are present with urgent, emergent, or potential health problems.

Responsibilities (Occupational Exposure):

  • Understand and adhere to OSHA requirements for workplace safety to protect against potential exposure to bodily fluids and workplace injuries.
  • Clean equipment and rooms after each use.

Essential Responsibilities (Non-Occupational Exposure):

  • Room patients and gather initial patient intake and documentation in the Allscripts EHR system.
  • Prepare/drape the patient for the exam.
  • Record the health history of patients and note abnormal conditions for the physician and/or provider.
  • Assist physicians and providers with injections, brace fittings, post-op care, and other tasks as needed.
  • Follow the call-rotation schedule to screen calls for physicians and providers to triage and answer questions within your scope of knowledge about medications, post-operative care, orders, etc.
  • Document in the chart all transactions, phone conversations, and orders.
  • Assist physicians and providers in setting up procedures and exams, revising daily schedules, obtaining charts and charge tickets, locate lab tests and x-ray reports.
  • Set up stock rooms and clean rooms between procedures.
  • Follow clinic policies for infection control in handling and disposing of infectious/hazardous waste materials.
  • Contact the pharmacy to order new and refill prescriptions and notify patients.
  • Notify hospital or skilled nursing facility personnel of physician and provider orders.
  • Order and maintain inventories of supplies and medications.
  • Completion of all required compliance and safety training.
  • Perform special projects or other tasks as appropriate.

Basic Requirements:

  • Current LPN or CMA license and in good standing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous experience in orthopedic or other healthcare setting.

  • Mankato office: 1431 Premier Drive | Mankato, MN 56001
  • Full-time position M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with flexibility.
  • Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work.
