Job description

Description:

Basic Purpose:

To assist in the regular operation of the physical plant. 


Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Inspect, maintain, trouble-shoot and repair components or assemblies related to the following systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical mechanical, sewage, and other building components.
  2. Perform scheduled tasks as directed by Director of Plant Operations, and in accordance with safety policies and O & M manuals.
  3. Monitor all boilers and HVAC systems; maintain equipment, operating logs, and take appropriate action when needed.
  4. Complete all repair work in accordance with sound business practices and applicable codes. 
  5. Maintain working knowledge of plant operations, systems and as-built drawings.
  6. Advise Director of Plant Operations of problem areas or unstable operating characteristics of equipment.
  7. Complete all required documentation relation to work orders, inspection reports, shift reports and supply requisitions.
  8. Maintain all filters on rooftop units and all mechanical rooms.
  9. Respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
  10. Assist other staff members with technical repairs or problems.
  11. Practice safety while using ladders and lift equipment.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: 

One-year technical education in one or more maintenance/mechanical trades, or three years field experience in one or more maintenance/mechanical trades. Must be familiar with tools and mechanical equipment. Must have in-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting.

Typical Physical Demands: 

  1. Ability to perform repeated bending, lifting, stooping, squatting, climbing and kneeling.
  2. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  3. Ability to reach overhead.
  4. Ability to read, write and speak clearly.
