Job description

Job Summary
A Dryer Operator loads and unloads small to large dryers. This position tags and labels linen according to customer specifications from tunnel dryers.
Essential Job Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Dryer Operator may perform some or all of the following duties during a given shift:
  • Place wet, washed linen into an automatic dryer.
  • Dryers are automated and start when loaded
  • Manually remove the laundry when the drying cycle is completed.
  • Collect and transfer the dry and/or partially dry linen to the next department for processing.
  • Read computer codes to label and color code linen by customer
  • Remove lint and clean dryer filters
  • Demonstrates friendly and respectful behavior in the work environment
  • Assis an any necessary job duty as instructed by Management
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Perform job rotation as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Meet production and safety standards for the position.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong teamwork skills- ready and willing to work closely with team members
  • Open, and able, to work day or night shifts, and willing to rotate shifts depending on production needs
  • Open to long hours and working weekends (Saturday/Sunday) when necessary
  • Pass a background check and drug screen, in accordance with applicable laws.

Requirements
Physical Requirements
  • Physical demands include constant standing and frequent walking.
  • Constant reaching above and below shoulder height, twisting, grasping, and pulling items and loading machinery in a repetitive motion.
  • Pushing and pulling items from cart to dryer and dryer to cart.
  • Constant pushing/pulling both empty and full wheeled laundry carts of varying weights and sizes, up to and potentially exceeding 250 pounds.
  • Repetitive hand movement including simple and power grasping, fine manipulation and pushing and pulling items up to 50 pounds on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced facility that uses time sensitive production that travels down conveyor belts.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to wear and use personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Ability to hear for safety and awareness of surroundings.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands for the entire shift.

Work Environment
Production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, variations in temperature (non-air-conditioned work area), noise, humidity, and other hazards.
