Job Purpose
The Shipping Clerk position performs routine, non-routine and complex assignments and operates highly sophisticated equipment under general supervision.
Job Responsibilities
Must be able to understand and comply with HSE standards, AkzoNobel Life Saving Rules, waste management system, Product Stewardship procedure, distribution and road safety requirements, incident reporting, product SDS (MSDS), and proper PPE related HMIS system. Must actively participate in safety programs and be able to perform daily checklists and 5S participation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES
1. Must be able to read, understand and follow pick lists and BOL's
2. Pull finished goods from storage areas
3. Put away raw materials in storage areas.
4. Safely drive and operate a forklift
5. Load and unload trucks as needed.
6. Operate pumps for off-loading tankers
7. Perform set-up and clean up for tasks.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
1. General clean up and maintaining good housekeeping.
2. Consolidation and organization of the warehouses, and outside storage areas
3. Other duties as assigned.
Level of Autonomy
  • May follow written procedure and complete tasks authorized by procedure or training.
  • Authorized to halt work for identified Safety or Quality related concerns for corrective action.

Job Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent and at least 18 years of age.
  • Prior warehouse or logistics experience preferred
  • Excellent reading and comprehension skills
  • Good math skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Must be safety-conscious
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Propensity to use good judgment in making independent decisions
  • Self-motivated with high standards for performance
  • Ability to work with various types of personalities
  • Must have a positive attitude and be adaptable to the changing needs of the Company

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Possess physical strength and dexterity to perform job; able to lift 50-70 pounds; able to stand for 8-10 hours per day.

Total Compensation
  • The hourly range for these skills is $18.50/hr. + 3% annual bonus.
