Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Junior Transportation Data Scientist to join high-impact engineering team building next-generation intelligent systems reshaping the future of mobility and automation. This role is located in McLean, VA through 100% full onsite presence . The Junior Transportation Data Scientist will contribute to next-generation AI/ML applications in freight analytics, traffic safety, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), transportation operations, & multimodal data environments. Responsibilities of the Junior Transportation Data Scientist include: Prepare, integrate & clean multimodal transportation datasets Support the development, testing, & deployment of AI/ML models for transportation applications Conduct technical research & literature reviews on AI methods, data sources, & emerging technologies relevant to transportation safety & operations Evaluate model performance & recommend improvement to enhance robustness, scalability, trustworthiness & real-world applicability Assist with stakeholder engagement, including preparing materials, supporting workshops/briefings, & contributing to AI roadmaps, proposals, & implementation strategies Qualifications of the Junior Transportation Data Scientist include: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Transportation Engineering, or a related field (Master's Degree preferred) 1+ year of professional transportation data science or AI/ML experience Hands-on experience with transportation datasets & proficiency with ML frameworks & data processing tools Strong foundation in data preparation, ETL workflows, & multimodal data integration Familiar with AI evaluation metrics, performance analysis, & testing under varied conditions * Active Public Trust clearance
