Ai Admin information

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an AI Admin?

To thrive as an AI Administrator, you need a strong background in computer science, data management, and AI concepts, often supported by a relevant degree or certifications such as CompTIA AI+ or Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate. Familiarity with AI frameworks (like TensorFlow or PyTorch), cloud platforms, and data processing tools is usually required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication help in managing complex AI systems and collaborating with technical teams. These competencies ensure smooth deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of AI solutions, maximizing system performance and organizational value.

What is an AI Admin?

AI Admins, or Artificial Intelligence Administrators, are professionals who oversee the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of AI systems within organizations. They manage AI platforms, ensure data integrity, handle user access, and monitor system performance. Their responsibilities often include troubleshooting issues, updating algorithms, and collaborating with data scientists and IT teams to align AI solutions with business goals. AI Admins play a crucial role in ensuring that AI technologies are secure, efficient, and effectively integrated into company operations.

What is the difference between Ai Admin vs Data Analyst?

AspectAi AdminData Analyst
Required CredentialsCertifications in AI tools, basic programming knowledgeDegree in Data Science, Statistics, or related field
Work EnvironmentTech companies, AI-focused teams, remote or officeBusiness, finance, marketing departments, often in office
Employer & Industry UsageAI development firms, tech startups, R&D teamsCorporations, consulting firms, market research

While both roles involve working with data and technology, an Ai Admin primarily manages AI tools and systems, focusing on implementation and maintenance. A Data Analyst interprets data to provide insights and support decision-making. The roles overlap in technical skills but differ in focus and industry application.

How does an AI Admin typically collaborate with data scientists and IT teams on projects?

AI Admins play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between data science teams and IT departments. They are responsible for managing AI infrastructure, ensuring smooth deployment of models, and maintaining data pipelines. On a daily basis, AI Admins coordinate with data scientists to understand model requirements and work with IT professionals to ensure the necessary computational resources and security protocols are in place. This collaboration ensures that AI solutions are scalable, secure, and effectively integrated into organizational processes.

First Databank (FDB) is currently seeking an FDB Prizm Application Specialist (Developer) within the Quality Management department for the Prizm Medical Device Database and its Medical Device Data Management System (MDMS). This role is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, testing, and continuous improvement of the database, MDMS user interface, supporting data workflows, ETL processes, APIs, and AI-enabled tools that enhance system capabilities. This includes writing, reviewing, testing, and maintaining AI-assisted and manually generated code; managing data integrations from FDA sources, categorization sources, client APIs, and data files; and developing AI-driven automation to improve data throughput, consistency, validation, and overall data quality. The developer will work closely with the database administrators, build team, Quality Management, and other cross-functional partners to ensure reliable data builds, effective issue resolution, and continued improvement of Prizm-related systems. This position is critical to ensuring the reliability, effectiveness, scalability, and data integrity of FDB's medical device data solutions, thereby contributing to the goals of the department and company. The candidate must have 3-5 years of software development experience with Python, Java, HTML, and CSS.

This position is a hybrid role working out of our Carmel, IN office.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Prizm Medical Device Database
  • Own and implement the Medical Device Data Management System (MDMS), including scalable database and UI solutions that support web applications and data-driven workflows.
  • Leverage Python to automate data workflows, create and maintain ETL and integration pipelines, validate incoming medical device data, and enhance back-end systems linked to MDMS front-end interfaces.
  • Manage ETL processes that ingest, transform, validate, and load medical device data from various internal and external sources, including FDA data sources, categorization sources, client APIs, and client or vendor data files.
  • Implement and refine MDMS user-facing features using HTML, CSS, Java, and templating engines to support efficient workflows and clear data presentation.
  • Use modern AI-assisted development tools, such as Cline and Cursor, to improve productivity, code quality, documentation, and testing while reviewing and validating AI-generated code before release.
  • Develop, evaluate, and integrate AI-enabled tools, validation routines, and workflow automations into the MDMS and supporting data pipelines to enhance system capabilities, increase data output, and improve the quality, consistency, and validation of medical device data.
  • Analyze complex medical device datasets to identify trends, data integrity issues, normalization needs, and opportunities for database optimization or schema redesign.
  • Partner with the Prizm database administrator on database-related planning, schema and data model considerations, query optimization, performance monitoring, deployment coordination, and production support activities.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of data models, architecture, code, workflows, release/change processes, work instructions, and training materials for cross-functional teams.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot MDMS and database performance, implementing indexes, partitioning, query tuning, and other optimization techniques to ensure availability, reliability, and responsiveness.
  • Ensure ETLs function properly and on a scheduled cadence and frequency.
  • Troubleshoot API, integration, ETL, and data build issues, including APIs used in build processes, and assist the build team in diagnosing and resolving Prizm-related issues throughout build, QA, and release workflows.
  • Collaborate with Quality Management, clinical/content, product, technology, database administration, and build teams to translate business and data requirements into reliable MDMS enhancements; perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to own technical work from requirements through delivery.

  • Proficiency developing, reviewing, testing, and debugging applications written in Python, Java, CSS, and HTML, including AI-assisted and manually generated code.

  • Working knowledge of relational database design, data modeling, data integrity principles, workflow automation, and performance optimization for data-driven systems.

  • Experience with ETL/data integration concepts, API troubleshooting, data mapping, data validation, and ingestion of structured or semi-structured data files from multiple sources.

  • Ability to evaluate, develop, integrate, and validate AI-enabled tools or automation within data management workflows while maintaining appropriate human review, data quality, and documentation standards.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with a database administrator, build team, and cross-functional stakeholders; well organized work habits with attention to detail and a commitment to quality improvements.

Required Experience:

  1. Minimum Education (or Substitute experience) required:

  • Associate degree in MIS, CIS, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.

  1. Minimum Experience required:

  • 3-5 years of software development experience with Python, Java, CSS, and HTML required.

  • Preferred experience developing database-backed web applications, data management systems, ETL/data integration pipelines, Python automation workflows, API integrations, and AI-enabled tools or integrations, including Cline, Cursor, or similar platforms, that improve system capabilities, data output, and data quality.
