Job description

This role is for one of Weekday's clients

Min Experience: 1+ years
Location: Nebraska, United States
JobType: full-time

Base Salary: Approximately $60,000-$80,000 + Annual Bonus
Work Mode: On-site

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Systems Administrator to join a growing Information Systems team within an established global manufacturing environment. This is an opportunity to help build and strengthen a dedicated IT function while taking ownership across infrastructure, systems, virtualization, connectivity, security, hardware, and end-user support.

The ideal candidate will be technically versatile, approachable, and comfortable supporting a broad user base while maintaining strong IT standards and best practices. As the team develops, this role can provide a path toward greater ownership and potential leadership responsibilities.

You will support an environment of approximately 800 users and work across a wide range of systems administration responsibilities.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and support Windows-based servers, workstations, and IT infrastructure.
  • Manage and maintain Microsoft Windows and Active Directory environments.
  • Support VMware and server virtualization platforms.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and end-user issues.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, access, and system configurations.
  • Support networking infrastructure, including switches, connectivity, and related systems.
  • Assist with backup, recovery, security, and infrastructure continuity initiatives.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and overall infrastructure health.
  • Provide responsive technical support to users across the organization.
  • Help establish and enforce sound IT policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Participate in infrastructure transitions and improvements as the new IT function develops.
  • Document systems, processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaborate with technology leaders and other IT team members on infrastructure initiatives.
  • Help train and mentor future team members as the department expands.
  • Remain hands-on while gradually taking on broader technical and leadership responsibilities.
Requirements
  • Approximately 8-10 years of progressive IT experience.
  • Several years of hands-on systems administration experience.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Windows and Active Directory.
  • Experience with VMware and server virtualization.
  • Hands-on knowledge of servers, workstations, hardware, and end-user support.
  • Exposure to networking, switches, backups, connectivity, and IT security.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical teams and non-technical users.
  • Comfortable maintaining IT standards and explaining technical requirements to users.
  • Desire to remain technically hands-on while developing toward future leadership responsibilities.
  • Manufacturing or industrial IT experience is helpful but not required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
What Makes This Opportunity Different
  • Help build and shape a developing infrastructure and support function.
  • Work across the full systems administration environment rather than a narrow technical specialty.
  • Gain exposure to experienced technology leaders and established enterprise systems.
  • Take increasing ownership as the IT function grows.
  • Help train and develop future members of the technology team.
  • Potential pathway toward a supervisory or leadership position.
  • Join a stable organization with strong benefits and long-tenured employees.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: Approximately $60,000-$80,000.
  • Higher compensation may be considered for exceptional candidates.
  • Annual performance bonus opportunity, historically around one month's salary, based on company performance and not guaranteed.
  • Health insurance.
  • 401(k).
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • On-site amenities.
  • Limited on-call responsibilities, typically handled remotely.
  • Relocation assistance may be available.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a dependable systems professional who enjoys solving problems, working directly with users, and understanding how different parts of an IT environment work together. You should be comfortable taking ownership, learning established systems, improving infrastructure, and enforcing good IT practices while remaining collaborative and approachable.

Good-to-have skills:

  • Microsoft Windows
  • Active Directory
  • VMware
  • Server Administration
  • IT Infrastructure
  • Networking
  • Technical Support
