Job description

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS STAFF ("Extended Day") at Latin School of Chicago.
Latin School of Chicago is seeking applicants for part-time Extended Day staff positions for our after school programs. Applicants must be 18 years of age and meet qualification requirements. We are looking for applicants who have experience working with children and who are motivated to follow Latin's mission of "providing an environment that creates a life-long love of learning and supports students as they pursue their passions." Applicants should be creative, take initiative, and come prepared to engage children in a supportive after-school enrichment program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the positive growth of children of all ages. Reports to Assistant Director of Latin 360.
Work as part of an exceptional team to:
  • Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate afternoon activities
  • Be responsible for the safety and supervision of a group of children
  • Mentor and role model Latin's mission
  • Communicate regularly with Extended Day Team Leader
  • Take care of housekeeping, including but not limited to, set-up and clean-up of Extended Day classrooms and gyms

Days, Hours, and Compensation:
  • Shifts run Mondays through Fridays from 2:00pm to 5:00pm
  • Flexible hours and schedules can be made to accommodate an employee's schedule.
  • Compensation starts at $17.50/hr

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Experience working with kids ages 3-12
  • Able to commit to a set schedule that varies infrequently
  • Must be able to supervise and interact with students in a dynamic environment, including playgrounds, gyms, classrooms
  • Positive, energetic outlook
  • Love working with young children

  • Must be able to actively engage with children indoors and outdoors, which may include standing, walking, running, bending, and kneeling for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, move, or carry materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Visual and auditory ability to observe and respond to critical incidents and ensure student safety
  • Ability to remain alert and attentive for extended periods, especially during transitions, outdoor activities, and pick-up/drop-off times
  • May be required to set up and clean up program areas, including moving light furniture or supplies
