Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Responsible for the efficient and effective development, production, and maintenance of all aspects of AFMC's internal and external communications and marketing initiatives. Serve as a backup to upper management as needed. Manage the production of print and digital media, and social media content and other resources and materials. Collaborate on and support organizational communication campaigns and strategic initiatives, ensuring that AFMC's mission, vision, and values are consistently reflected throughout the organization's communications. Ensure adherence to corporate branding standards across all communications by maintaining consistency in messaging, visual identity, tone, and quality to strengthen and reinforce the organization's brand and values. Manage and when needed, oversee the planning, production, and execution of special events, conferences, and other activities that support AFMC's contract deliverables and the needs of external clients. Support the organization's mission, vision, and values by demonstrating the following behaviors: Honesty, Excellence, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manage, coach and evaluate assigned staff. Ensure the quality and accuracy of employeesโ€™ work product and that staff meet performance goals within designated time frame.
  • Coordinate communication activities with the Vice President Communications and Strategy (VPCS) and keep advised about the departmentโ€™s progress.
  • Work with the VPCS on the organizationโ€™s communications strategy that aligns with the strategic plan.
  • Assist with development of a marketing content to promote AFMC as an organization, including specific business lines and contracts.
  • Develop and maintain department policies and procedures.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with AFMC policy, contractual obligations, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly board reports to VPCS.
  • Monitor and report communications cases to VPCS on a weekly basis
  • Work with the VPCS to prepare annual departmental budget. Responsible for managing department expenditures to meet budgetary requirements.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent corporate image and branding throughout all advertising, promotional materials, and events. Adhere to format, content, and style guidelines, giving consideration
  • Meet regularly with staff to communicate pertinent information, needs and requests to other team members as appropriate.
  • Meet regularly with operations teams to stay informed, to offer direction and support for contract deliverables and special projects Responsible for maintaining and regularly updating the corporate website to ensure compliance with branding standards, corporate messaging, and contractual deliverables, including supporting website requirements for special projects and contract obligations.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Intermediate skill level with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Type 40 wpm
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and speaking skills. Basic understanding of healthcare terminology, business writing, and proposal writing required. Familiarity with social media methods
  • Knowledge of regulations and contract requirements pertaining to the assigned area of responsibility.

Job Requirements

Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices):

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelorโ€™s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field.
Desirable: Masterโ€™s degree in marketing, technical writing, business or related field.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Five (5) yearsโ€™ professional experience in communications, journalism, advertising and/or public relations. Strong leadership skills.
Desirable: Experience in health care industry
