Job description

Northstar Aerospace, now part of Avio Aero - a GE Aerospace Company, is a leading independent manufacturer of components and assemblies to the global Aerospace industry. Our principal products include gears and transmissions, accessory gearbox assemblies, rotorcraft drive systems, and other machined and fabricated parts for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. We also provide maintenance and repair and overhaul (MRO) on these platforms.

SUMMARY OF POSITION 

The Phoenix Division of Northstar Aerospace has an exciting career opportunity in its Engineering organization. We are seeking a dynamic individual to play an integral role in developing, driving and supporting our business goals.  The right candidate should have a proven track record of providing leadership and expertise in the application of engineering activities.  If you are a talented, self-motivated individual that enjoys a fast-paced environment, and can focus individual and team energies to deliver results, you may be an excellent candidate to join our team. This position is in Northstar’s Engineering Department, and reports to the VP/GM of Phoenix.  The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary and is responsible for direct or indirect supervision of up to approximately 15 employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the engineering staff ensuring they provide the necessary technical support to manufacturing and quality to achieve division objectives.
  • Ensure that all manufacturing special processes and tooling conform to customer, organizational, and governmental standards.
  • Direct the development of new manufacturing processes and the revision of existing processes to facilitate the improved manufacturing of parts.
  • Develop, coach and mentor team of engineers to ensure the highest level of performance and standards of excellence.
  • Manages software control
  • Provide evaluation and disposition of discrepant material

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will direct the work of up to 15 employees.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED         

             

  • Education Required: A minimum of a four-year technical degree such as a BSIE or BSME or equivalent experience.
  • Experience Required: 15 years’ experience in manufacturing, business development, program management, production control, and finance is desired. Experience in the aerospace industry is ideal, preferably with most of the experience in a tight tolerance aerospace manufacturing machine shop with gears as its core competency.
  • 10 Years of Leadership
