POSITION SUMMARY:
The Denton Record-Chronicle (DRC) is looking for a digital-first multimedia sales associate to help local businesses grow through effective advertising and marketing solutions. This role works directly with clients to understand their goals, identify opportunities, and recommend the right mix of digital, print, sponsorship, and targeted advertising solutions.
The ideal candidate is personable, self-motivated, relationship-driven, and comfortable bringing ideas to clients that support their business goals. This position will manage current client relationships while also identifying and developing new business opportunities throughout Denton County.
A background in sales, customer service, marketing, media, or business development is preferred. Knowledge of digital advertising, including social, audience targeting, SEO, video, and other digital marketing products, is a plus.
This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position, is not eligible for overtime, and reports to the Advertising Manager, DRC.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Manage, maintain, and grow relationships with existing customers and key accounts.
  • Serve as a trusted advertising and marketing partner by understanding each clientโ€™s business, goals, challenges, and growth opportunities.
  • Develop new advertising accounts through strategic prospecting, referrals, networking, and community involvement.
  • Conduct needs-based conversations with current and prospective clients and recommend effective multimedia advertising solutions.
  • Build and present strategic advertising proposals, campaign recommendations, and pricing packages tied to client goals.
  • Sell and support a mix of digital, print, sponsorship, targeted advertising, and other revenue opportunities.
  • Help clients understand changing media habits and recommend campaign strategies that improve visibility, engagement, and results.
  • Monitor campaign performance and provide clients with reporting, analytics, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to grow account revenue through renewals, upsells, cross-sells, and long-term campaign planning.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure campaigns are executed accurately, on time, and aligned with client expectations.
  • Represent the Denton Record-Chronicle at community events, chamber functions, and networking opportunities.
  • Meet and exceed monthly and annual revenue goals.

  • 5+ years of proven success in advertising, media, business-to-business sales, or consultative sales.
  • Strong ability to build, maintain, and grow long-term client relationships.

  • Comfort representing both traditional and non-traditional products as the company continues to diversify revenue streams.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain value, pricing, campaign options, and expectations in a way customers can understand.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines, follow-ups, and priorities with limited supervision.
  • Proven ability to work independently while also contributing to a team-focused sales culture.
  • General computer proficiency, including comfort using email, CRM tools, digital platforms, and web-based applications.

SALARY RANGE
This position is compensated with a base salary + commission structure. For this role, estimated combined total annual compensation is *$50,000-$60,000.
*This estimate is based on prior performance, and commission could increase depending on future performance.

LOCATION:
We expect that this position will work out of our Denton office 100% of the time. (Equivalent to 40 hours per week)
