School Nurse Aide

Job Description

Purpose: The School Nurse Aide assists the Nurse and Building Administrators in creating a safe and structured environment for students at TES. To accomplish these tasks, the Building Aide works closely with the nurse, office staff and administration of the district.

Responsible to:ย Building Principal and Assistant Principal

Payment rate:ย  According to Classified Salary Schedule

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the central office (after employment offer is made).
  3. Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist in establishing a safe and structured environment, and respond to the individual health needs of students.
  2. Ensure all activities conform to district guidelines.
  3. Communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community.
  4. React to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, and handle other tasks as assigned.
  5. Work to implement the vision and mission of the district.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  1. Must work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions.
  2. Requires stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and turning.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the nurse in care of students and in maintaining student health records.
  2. Assist with student health needs as assigned by the nurse and building administrators.
  3. Assist building office staff.
  4. Work effectively with students, teachers, parents, community agencies, and other groups.
  5. Implement and follow all school district policies during all activities.
  6. Keep student information and records confidential.
  7. Respond to requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner.
  8. Implement and follow all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
  9. Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or other administrative staff.

Evaluation:ย Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board of Education Policy.
