Administrative Director Emergency Services

Salary Range: $127,649-$159,556 (Based on years of experience) Annual Bonus: 15% Director Bonus (Based on performance) Sign-On: Case by Case Relocation assistance: Case by Case Facility is a full-service, 457-bed acute care hospital equipped with a Level II Trauma Center, an accredited Chest Pain Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and accredited by DNV - Healthcare as the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in Northeast Houston. We offer a wide range of comprehensive services, including complex cardiovascular services, specialized neurological care, orthopedic care and women's services including high-risk pregnancy care as well as pediatric services with access to pediatric specialists.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The role of the Administrative Director of the Emergency Services Department assures service, growth, development, personnel management, and resource allocation and management controls in order to ensure consistent high-quality patient care in the Emergency Services Department, Free Standing Emergency Department, Emergency Management, and/or other departments as assigned.

What you will do in this role:

  • Accurately identify real/potential problems affecting the service and implement solutions with follow through and communication
  • Actively participate in service, departmental and hospital wide committees as assigned, providing ongoing communication to those one represents
  • Advance the patient experience agenda in the Emergency Department
  • Coach immediate subordinates and provide feedback; constructive critique of work; facilitates individual development plan; and documents their job performance
  • Adhere to all Human Resource policies
  • Effectively communicate departmental, organization and industry information to staff
  • Facilitate evidence based employee engagement practices
  • Effectively build strong relationships and networks to deliver upon organizational and department goals
  • Participate in employee and patient rounding and identifies and mentors potential future leaders
  • Enforce standards of emergency department care and develops processes to measure and ensure consistent compliance
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate an ongoing emergency services program which assures quality patient care consistent with the Hospital mission
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policy for patient services, and environmental and personnel safety
  • Oversee a PI program that consistently monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care
  • Be responsible for department's operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards
  • Follow the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Blood borne and Airborne Pathogens
  • Seek new program strategies and/or program enhancements which would expand patient services
  • Develop, prioritize and defend all capital equipment requests
  • Be responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization's financial resources
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

  • Candidates must have 5 years of RECENT acute care ED Director experience. (MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE of 80 FTEs rolling under them + their ER has to have 60K+ visits)* MUST ALREADY HAVE FOUNDATIONAL OPERATIONS IN PLACE.
  • Masters Degree is REQUIRED
  • Currently licensed or eligible as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) preferred

Overall: 457 bed facility Level II Trauma Chest Pain Center Level III NICU Comprehensive Stroke Center ED Summary: Admin Director will oversee Adult ER + Pediatric ER + 2 FSEDs Adult main ER 29 beds 150 patients/day Pediatric ER 10 beds volumes are seasonal. Low volume around 60/day, high volume around 140/day. 40k visits on average per year in this ER 3 FSEDs Reporting Structure: Admin Director reports into CNO 3 Directors report into Admin Director 1 for adult ER, 1 for Pediatric ER, 1 for FSEDs Managers and CNCs under Directors ~160 FTEs
