Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The VC of Business and Finance direct and provides financial oversight of the University's financial and administrative operations.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Administrative Services Coordinator performs a broad range of payroll, accounting, purchasing, and administrative duties to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and financial operations. This position serves as the primary payroll contact for campus departments and employees, provides high-quality customer service, and supports financial reporting, purchasing, and special projects. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, garnishments, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Banner financial systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to respond professionally to employee inquiries.

Minimum Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • At least three years of communications, marketing, and/or development experience (preferred, but not required).
  • All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Payroll Administration
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all campus departments and employees regarding payroll and employee self-service questions.
  • Serve as the UNC System Office payroll liaison, coordinating payroll activities and communications.
  • Process and manage payroll finance feeds, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Print and distribute payroll checks as required.
  • Ensure all payroll system upgrades and testing are completed without disrupting payroll processing.
  • Distribute W-2 forms to employees and ensure all W-2s are completed and delivered by established deadlines. Assist with payroll-related reporting as required.
