Addiction Services at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobiare comprised of the outpatient addiction clinic, opioid treatment program, and addiction consult service. Specifically, Jacobi's Addiction Services are led by a multidisciplinary medical team, representingaddiction expertise from psychiatry, internal medicine, family medicine, and emergency medicine/medical toxicology. Jacobi's outpatient addiction clinic provides medical, psychiatric, counseling, and recovery support services, featuring a SUD walk-in clinic, with an integrated opioid treatment program underway. Addiction Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine fellows, Psychiatry residents, as well as medical students regularly rotate through Addiction Services. The mission of Jacobi's Addiction Services is to improve patient access to and engagement in evidence-based care for SUD, including medications for addiction treatment, treatment of co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions, psychosocial counseling, care coordination, harm reduction, and peer advocacy. The Addiction Psychiatrist joining this team at Jacobi will be able to build a diverse outpatient case load and keep up skills in addiction consults as needed. The Addiction Psychiatrist will also advance as a clinical educator and access career growth in quality improvement and medical leadership.

Opportunity Details:

  • Provide clinical care for patients in the outpatient addiction clinic with opioid treatment program.
  • Diagnose substance use disorders, behavioral addictions, and co-occurring mental health disorders, and recommend treatment that considers levels of care criteria.
  • Order and manage medications for addiction treatment, including for opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder.
  • Orders and manages pharmacotherapeutic interventions for co-occurring disorders as clinically indicated.
  • Monitor the progress of individuals in treatment and review the appropriateness of continued treatment and level of care.
  • Contribute to the completion of Treatment Plans and Utilization Reviews.
  • Teach and train fellows, residents, and medical students rotating on addiction services as well as preparing didactic presentations as needed.
  • Assist with orientation of new physicians and staff in addiction services.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Process Improvement projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Addiction Psychiatry.
  • Active New York State Medical License.

Wages and Benefits include:

Annual Base Salary: $278,200* (board eligible); $288,500* (board certified) based on 40-hour work week.

The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $450,020** (board eligible) and $461,350** (board certified), which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, and other factors as set forth below:

  • Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $104,000***.
  • Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year's average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
    • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
    • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
  • Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
  • Generous Annual Paid Time Off (PTO): Vacation, Sick, Holiday, and CME days.
  • Medical, Prescription, and Dental Coverage: Top-tier plans with employee contributions significantly below market rates.
  • Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Coverage: Equal to 2x your salary (up to a maximum of $300,000) provided at no cost to you.
    • Additional employee-paid Voluntary Life and AD&D coverage is available for you and your family.
  • Loan Forgiveness: Position may be eligible for loan forgiveness through certain state or federal programs.
  • Medical Malpractice Coverage (equivalent to occurrence-based): Provided at no cost to the employee.
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).
  • Pre-tax employee-paid contributions for commuting expenses.
  • Visa sponsorship will be considered for this position.
