About the Role:

The Manager, Social Media (Paid & Content Creation) will be the engine powering Subways social media presence day-to-day - connecting culture, content, and conversion through best-in-class paid and boosted activations. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Social Media (with a dotted line to the Senior Director of Social and PR), this role leads the development and execution of Subways paid social and boosting strategy, translating cultural trends and brand priorities into platform-native creative that drives performance and conversion. They will work hand-in-hand with our social agency, creative partners, and platform representatives to build, test, and optimize campaigns that fuel brand love, business impact, and measurable ROI. The Manager, Social Media also serves as Subways in-house content creator, while identifying emerging formats, tools, and cultural cues that help the brand stay ahead of the algorithm and at the center of conversation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Paid Social Execution & Creative Strategy:
    • Lead the paid social creative strategy, requirements, and execution defining what great performance creative looks like for Subway and ensuring every asset is built to win in-feed
    • Lead the day-to-day execution of Subway's paid and boosted social campaigns, ensuring creative excellence, cultural relevance, and performance efficiency across all platforms
    • Partner with the Senior Manager and Senior Director, Social Media, to ensure paid content amplifies organic storytelling and creator activations, driving cohesive cross-channel impact Manage campaign setup, optimization, and reporting with our social agency and internal media teams, ensuring strong alignment with business and franchisee goals
    • Track, analyze, and interpret paid performance data (CPM, CTR, IPM) to identify actionable insights and opportunities for optimization
  • Innovation & Testing
    • Help lead all of Subway's social innovation tests owning test design, execution, and learnings that shape how the brand shows up across platforms
    • Collaborate with platform partners (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Snap, etc.) through the media team to test new ad formats, tools, and beta opportunities that keep Subway at the forefront of innovation
    • Collaborate with the media team to co-lead ongoing paid social reporting and testing frameworks, identifying what drives the highest impact across channels and audiences
  • Content Creation
    • Serve as one of Subway's in-house content creator, producing short-form video, photography, and trend-driven content optimized for each platform
    • Work closely with creative and brand teams to ensure all assets are on-brand, on-trend, and optimized for boosting and performance
    • Manage production timelines, shot lists, and creative assets for nimble content creation ensuring Subway moves at the speed of culture
    • Partner with the creative agency to scale top-performing concepts into paid or boosted execution Maintain Subway's in-house content library, ensuring evergreen creative is properly tagged, organized, and available for reuse
  • Reporting, Dashboards & Insights
    • Own Subway's social reporting software and dashboards including but not limited to Sprout Social and Brandwatch serving as the team's platform administrator and go-to expert
    • Use social dashboards (Sprout Social, Brandwatch, or equivalent) to connect paid performance with organic learnings, fueling cross-team collaboration
    • Continuously refine creative, targeting, and spend allocation based on data to maximize ROI, specific to boosting
    • Partner with analytics and Consumer Insights teams to provide clear, actionable insights that inform future campaigns
  • Crisis & Community Management
    • Serve as a first responder and field liaison during social or operational crises, ensuring issues are escalated, managed, and resolved quickly in partnership with PR, Guest Care, and Field Operations
    • Monitor social sentiment and community feedback to identify potential issues before they escalate, with ICUC and Consumer Insights
    • Partner with Field Marketing and Communications to develop real-time response frameworks and messaging that protect the brand and support franchisees
    • Maintain strong relationships with field teams to ensure consistent and coordinated communication across local and national levels during high-sensitivity moments
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Collaborate with internal partners (Media, PR, Operations) to ensure Subway's paid and boosted content supports key campaigns and brand priorities
    • Act as the connective link between creative development, media execution, and real-time optimization
    • Partner with the Senior Manager of Social Media to ensure every activation ladders up to Subway's larger goals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Advertising, or related field required.
  • 3-5 years of experience with social media channels.
  • Comprehensive understanding of social media is a must
  • Video content creation experience is a must
  • Results-oriented, self-starter and highly motivated
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to think creatively
