Job description

We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will prepare, report, analyze and present financial data that provides valuable insights into operational performance while ensuring adherence to generally accepted accounting principles. Successful candidates for this position will need to be flexible, dependable, goal-oriented and intensely driven to learn and grow with the organization. Candidates must also be good communicators and critical thinkers with proven experience solving complex problems.


Responsibilities

  • Execute monthly accounting close processes, prepare journal entries and reconcile sub-ledgers to the closing General Ledger.
  • Perform intercompany eliminations and reconciliations between Business Units and subsidiary India corporation.
  • Maintain accurate, timely Balance Sheet account reconciliations including detailed documentation to support balances.
  • Work with the payroll team on validating wage, tax and benefit accruals.
  • Review pre-operational asset activity, capitalize and dispose of fixed assets and prepare monthly depreciation expense entries.
  • Mentor accountant and junior accountant team members and review their work results for accuracy.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly consolidated Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flows reports.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports for presentation to senior leadership.
  • Lead monthly financial meetings by presenting relevant financial reports, discussing results, identifying major variances to budget and offering suggestions for improvement.
  • Provide detailed analysis of financial results, including trends, performance metrics and benchmarks.
  • Provide support to the Financial Planning & Analysis team with preparing budgets and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with business partners to ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Assist with document preparation for fiscal year-end financial audits and tax return submissions.
  • Participate in accounting and reporting automation initiatives.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ensure financial reporting is completed in accordance with GAAP.
  • Have a good understanding of state telecommunications, sales and use tax reporting requirements as they pertain to company operations.
  • Lead special projects including internal or external audits within assigned department or as part of a cross-functional team as required or assigned.
  • Regularly update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned by your direct or indirect supervisor.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • 5+ years hands-on, corporate accounting experience that includes financial presentation and data analysis.
  • Experience coaching and training other departmental team members on accounting matters.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including advanced Excel experience.
  • Operating experience with an ERP accounting system and financial planning software platform.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Results oriented and able to follow through on commitments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and assume additional responsibility without prompting.

Additional Information

  • Master’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • CPA or CMA.

Shift is Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST but must be able to work outside normal business hours when required.
