The D-line hiring process is robust and thorough to ensure a good fit for the Company as well as the new team member. We are seeking highly motivated candidates to join our Construction Company. If you qualify for the role of Controller you will hear from the hiring team within 1 week of your application submission. The following is an overview of our application process:
  1. Complete the application process by submitting your cover letter and resume
  2. Once you submit your application you will be prompted to complete the Culture Index Questionnaire - THIS IS REQUIRED. This is a series of questions that helps the hiring team learn about applicant perception, values and behaviors to help us assess if the applicant will be a good fit for the role.
  3. If you are qualified for the role and have the relevant Culture Index profile we are looking for, the hiring team will conduct an initial screening call to ensure the you fit the role requirements, qualifications and business needs.
  4. Qualified applicants that have the knowledge, skill, ability and meet the business needs will have a follow up meeting (likely in person) with the hiring manager.
  5. A final interview will be conducted with other members of the team that the role will collaborate with and where possible will include attendance of an owner or leadership team member.
  6. D-Line Constructors will also complete a reference check with prior employers prior to providing an offer of employment.

The Accounting Manager is the steward of accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance, supporting data-driven decision-making while safeguarding the company's financial assets. By maintaining efficient systems, optimizing workflows, and fostering a high-performing team, the Accounting Manager plays a critical role in driving operational excellence and supporting the company's growth.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
  • The Accounting Manager oversees all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, cash management, equipment costs, and job costing. This role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, enabling effective decision-making by leadership.

Compliance
  • The Accounting Manager ensures adherence to compliance requirements, including local, state, and federal reporting, tax filings, and regulatory standards. Internal controls are implemented and maintained to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data.

Process and Improvements
  • The Accounting Manager leads the development, maintenance, and optimization of accounting department playbooks, systems, and tools, including Trello boards, templates, checklists, and wikis, to track work progress and support operational efficiency. This role actively identifies and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across all accounting functions.

Project Accounting
  • In collaboration with the construction management team, the Accounting Manager supports project accounting, including job costing, progress billing, and financial analysis, to align project performance with company goals.

Human Resources
  • This role also works closely with HR to ensure payroll operations are compliant, smooth, and aligned with employee lifecycle management, including onboarding, reviews, and offboarding.

Financial Reporting and Audits
  • The Accounting Manager ensures timely preparation of financial reports, including the 12-month rolling budget, WIP schedule, backlog, sales pipeline, and monthly financials. Reports are accurate, concise, and distributed to the Leadership Team in advance of key meetings.
  • The Accounting Manager also supports annual audits, bank reconciliations, and vendor compliance, ensuring smooth and accurate workflows for internal and external stakeholders.

Position Requirements
Suggested Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in construction accounting principles, including percentage-of-completion and job costing.
  • Experience with financial software systems, with familiarity in Vista being a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a strong focus on team leadership and process improvement.
