Job description

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join a team in Knoxville, Tennessee on a Contract basis. This contract opportunity will provide essential accounting support during the third quarter, with a strong focus on month-end close activity and daily transaction processing. The position works closely with the Controller and is well suited for someone who is comfortable managing both payables and receivables in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:

• Support the Controller with core close-cycle tasks to help ensure timely and accurate month-end reporting.

• Handle the full accounts payable process, including reviewing, coding, and entering vendor invoices for payment.

• Manage accounts receivable activity by tracking incoming payments, applying cash, and following up on outstanding balances as needed.

• Prepare and process checks while coordinating both manual and electronic payment batches with accuracy.

• Maintain financial records in Yardi and use Microsoft Excel to organize data, reconcile activity, and monitor transactions.

• Complete bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to help keep account balances current and correct.

• Assist with routine accounting documentation and provide dependable coverage for quarter-three operational needs.

• At least 3 years of accounting experience in a role with hands-on responsibility for transactional accounting.

• Proficiency with Yardi, including Yardi Property Management functions.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills for reviewing data, tracking activity, and supporting reconciliations.
• Ability to code invoices, process checks, and manage payment batches with close attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
