Job description

The Public Building Authority (PBA) is a joint public, non-profit organization created by Knox County and the City of Knoxville to develop, construct, manage, and maintain a wide range of public facilities and services on their behalf. PBA oversees major construction projects, provides long-term property and grounds management for millions of square feet of buildings—including city and county facilities, parks, and parking garages—and even handles security, telecommunications infrastructure and on-street parking operations throughout the community. Governed by an 11-member board appointed by county and city leaders, the PBA works to deliver cost-effective, professional facility services that support local government operations and enhance public spaces for residents and visitors alike.


Due to continued growth, PBA is seeking an experienced Sr. Accounting Clerk to join our Parking team. This position reports to the Parking Operations Manager.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist customer calls/emails made to Parking Office.
  • Greets office visitors and assist them as needed.
  • Review and interpret monthly contract terms and conditions and assist with determining appropriate course of action.
  • Sort and file accounting records and data, collect information, post records, compile routine data, and make/verify basic calculations.
  • Set up and process new parking accounts with current processing system.
  • Record and process accounts receivable invoices and payments.
  • Process checks daily utilizing current processing system.
  • Generate and send invoices and billings.
  • Verify and reconcile invoices to the accounts payable.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and one (1) year related experience, or Associates degree in accounting with minimum three (3) years related experience.
  • Proficient with current computer software, to include Excel and other office software and equipment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of general accounting and invoicing.
