Job Summary:

The Accounts Payable Accountant works closely with property managers and vendors to ensure all invoices are received, accurately coded, processed, and paid in a timely manner. This role supports corporate entities and assigned properties with full-cycle accounts payable, related general ledger activity, reporting, and month-end close processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable for all corporate entities and three properties, including general ledger coding, check printing, mailing, and filing. 
  • Reconcile and allocate costs between management entities and properties. 
  • Calculate monthly consulting and management fees. 
  • Adjust security deposit accounts monthly. 
  • Produce and distribute daily and month-end reports. 
  • Serve as backup for daily cash reporting. 
  • Collaborate with the Controller on ad hoc reporting requests. 
  • Support month-end close processes, including recording accruals. 
  • Assist with deposit accounting for past residents. 
  • Process monthly resident charges for 5-day notices. 
  • Create and enter journal entries as needed.
  • Assist with preparation of annual property budgets. 
  • Prepare and issue annual Form 1099s.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 
  • 2–4+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate. 
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., AppFolio, Yardi, MRI, or similar) and Microsoft Excel. 
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with multi-entity and multi-property accounting. 
  • Familiarity with Form 1099 preparation and resident ledger processes.
