DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Johnson & Johnson MedTech Contract Strategy & Execution (CS&E) organization is responsible for the development, governance, and execution of customer contract and pricing strategies for the Surgery business unit. CS&E capabilities include Contract Strategy, Offer Development, Customer and Contract Analytics, Contract Management, Key Account Management, and Contracting and Pricing Committee (CPC) governance. The organization works in close collaboration with Sales, Finance, Legal, and other partners to deliver compliant, customer-centric offerings that support business objectives, operational excellence, and long-term value creation.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Contract Management is responsible for leading end-to-end contract execution and compliance in support of approved pricing and commercial strategies across the JJMT Surgery organization, including robotics and digital surgery. This role provides people leadership to Contract Management Managers and Lead Analysts, ensures high-quality and timely contract execution, and partners closely with Offer Development, Finance, Legal, and HCC to enable disciplined growth. The Senior Manager is accountable for all customers and contracting activities within their assigned Region and POD, including prioritization of work, resource allocation, workload balancing, and ensuring customer commitments, contracting deliverables, and business objectives are achieved in a timely and compliant manner. The role is responsible for driving operational excellence across the portfolio while fostering a high-performing, customer-focused team. In addition, the Senior Manager is expected to directly lead and own end-to-end negotiations for key strategic customers and complex commercial opportunities, serving as the primary contracting representative in customer discussions. This includes developing negotiation strategies, leading cross-functional alignment, managing risk and compliance considerations, resolving complex issues, and helping achieve favorable commercial outcomes that support both customer needs and JJMT business objectives. The role is accountable for operational excellence, modernization of contracting through GenAI and advanced technologies, and contribution to financial performance and G&O achievement, while maintaining strong governance, risk management, and customer experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Strategy, Execution & Governance
  • Develop execution strategies for approved offers, product launches, and pricing programs, including contract templates and system setup.
  • Ensure contracts are aligned to approved strategies, pricing structures, eligibility requirements, and CPC governance.
  • Write and maintain assigned SOPs and Work Instructions.

2. Financial Performance & Analytics
  • Support achievement of commercial G&Os and financial targets through disciplined contract execution.
  • Partner with Finance, Contract Strategy, Revenue Optimization, and Offer Development to monitor performance, identify leakage or risk, and implement corrective actions.
  • Leverage contract and customer analytics to improve revenue realization, margin outcomes, and free cash flow.

3. People Leadership & Capability Building
  • Identify, develop, and retain high-performance talent.
  • Drive training, best-practice sharing, and skill development across the Contract Management team.
  • Provide mentorship and education to internal partners on contractual and compliance requirements.

4. Innovation, Systems & Process Improvement
  • Identify, pilot, and scale GenAI-enabled and advanced technology solutions.
  • Support the design and implementation of systems, processes, and controls to improve efficiency and compliance.

5. Risk Management & Issue Resolution
  • Ensure conformity to business needs, accurate risk allocation, and adherence to J&J policies.
  • Facilitate resolution of complex issues and disputes, escalating as appropriate.

6. Digital & Analytical Enablement
  • Translate business needs into scalable, technology-enabled contracting solutions.
  • Leverage data, analytics, and GenAI to drive operational and financial outcomes.


EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • A minimum of a BS/BA is required. A degree in Business, Law, Finance, or Sales & Marketing is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Contracting & Pricing or related business experience within J&J or medical devices.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to self-manage in a complex, time-sensitive environment.
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional environment and build support across a complex set of stakeholders.
  • Ability to form strong, trust-based relationships with Account Management, Franchises, Deal Managers, and Contract Strategy.
  • Drive to understand JJMT Surgery products and offerings, strategies, and business objectives.
  • Ability to influence and align complex groups of stakeholders toward overall business objectives.
  • Strong level of ownership and drive for meeting or exceeding expectations.
  • Ability to drive adherence to protocols and business rules.
  • Experience with sales teams, contracting needs, and leadership mindsets in J&J businesses.

  • Deep experience with JJMT contracting systems and support tools is helpful.
  • Work directly with the Offer Development and Contract Strategy teams in preparing Contract Strategies and understanding approved strategies, and with Contract Management Leadership in continuously improving the process.
  • This role is expected to act as a change agent, driving the modernization of Contract Management through innovation, data, and technology, while maintaining strong governance, risk management, and financial discipline.

$122,000.00 - $212,750.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
