Job description
Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement
Responsibilities
- Supports transfer students in Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) and beyond. Facilitates the UROP Leader support class for Transfer UROP Leaders in collaboration with the UROP Research Support Specialist. Advises and mentors transfer students one-on-one throughout their UROP and research experiences. Coordinates recruitment efforts for transfer students. Conducts qualitative and quantitative evaluations of the transfer student research experience at FSU. Serves as a liaison to Transfer Student Services.
- Coordinates with the Undergraduate Research Support Specialist by working closely with the UROP leaders and the UROP colloquia, conducting class evaluations, and assisting with the UROP Leader committees. Manages attendance, assignment completion, and Federal Work Study time review and approval for UROP.
- Advises students in one-on-one meetings, leading group workshops, and conducting information sessions.
- Supports the coordination, planning, promotion, and execution of several large-scale events, including the President's Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence (fall), the Undergraduate Research Symposium (spring), the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference (FURC), and the biennial Florida Undergraduate Posters at the Capitol.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree education or a closely related degree and 2 years (24 months) of work experience in science education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in STEM education, pedagogy, and undergraduate research.
- Experience creating assessments and evaluating and interpreting the data.
- Experience creating policies and procedures.
- Experience advising and mentoring students to include monitoring progress, setting goals, and connecting students to relevant resources.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research.
