Abstract & Survey Assistant II | Allentown, Pennsylvania, United States Job Summary: Abstract & Survey Assistant II
About the Role
Join a dynamic team as an Abstract & Survey Assistant II in Allentown, PA (18104). This contract role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in AutoCAD and Carlson, seeking hands-on experience in property abstracting, title review, and survey data management for major right of way (R/W) projects. Collaborate with industry experts, develop foundational legal descriptions, and contribute to large-scale transmission projects with opportunities to expand your expertise in GIS, LiDAR, and advanced mapping technologies. You will report to the Lehigh Service Center once a week, maintaining a flexible hybrid schedule.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed abstract and title reviews for fee-simple and easement property acquisitions
  • Analyze exceptions, conveyances, restrictions, and R/W requirements to ensure project compliance
  • Compile and organize information for R/W purchases, easements, and transmission basemap development
  • Write precise property and R/W descriptions for legal documentation
  • Plot survey information and verify property plans for accuracy and completeness
  • Check and validate drawings for legal files and record-keeping
  • Interpret aerial photographs, contour maps, and survey notes to support engineering teams
  • Perform courthouse research online as needed
  • Review consultant survey basemaps for accuracy and compliance with Client standards
  • Develop scopes of work and vendor RFPs for survey and transmission projects

Required Skills and Experience
  • 2-5 years of practical surveying duties experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Carlson software
  • Proven ability in abstract/title review and legal description writing
  • Strong background in mathematics relevant to survey work
  • Skilled in GIS data applications, LiDAR, and PASDA information
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Experience with desktop computers and technical calculations
  • Must be an employee of your current firm for at least one year
  • Onsite presence at Lehigh Service Center (minimum 1 day/week)

Preferred Skills
  • Pennsylvania licensure (preferred, not required)
  • Advanced experience in property and R/W survey projects
