Job description

The Sales Development Specialist (SDS) is responsible for inside sales lead generation, based in our Spring, TX Corporate HQ office.  The SDS is tasked with sourcing sales leads that support and enhance ABS Group businesses.  To ensure success, the SDS will use multiple methods of sourcing and partner with the various business development team members and leaders to accomplish broader goals.  The SDS will provide input to marketing and operations on go-to-market plans, improving customer interaction/satisfaction, expanding to new markets, and improving financial performance.

What You Will Do:

  • Contact prospective customers to introduce products and services, explain product features, and schedule client meetings for Account Executives (AE).
  • Select appropriate AE to recommend products and services to customers, based on customers' needs and interests.
  • Convince others to buy products and services or to otherwise change their minds or actions.
  • Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, the government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, on social media, or by telephone or e-mail.
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent.
  • 5-7 years of related experience in B2B sales development experience within professional services, consulting, engineering, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotechnology, power and utilities, industrial, or energy sectors.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of broad products and services to be sold.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • An entrepreneurial mentality that enables the incumbent to recognize and capitalize on new business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated success in the ability to drive results.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing, maintaining, and growing strategic industry relationships and the ability to effectively establish, maintain, and increase credibility, externally and internally to ABS Group.
  • Excellent business judgment, including the ability to assess the reasonableness and likelihood of success of various business scenarios
  • Ability to commit to ethical business practices, in full accordance with ABS Group Operating Principles and Mission as well as corporate policies.
  • Behavioral competencies include dependability, integrity, persistence, adaptability and flexibility, cooperation, customer service, active listening, persuasion, social perceptiveness, and critical thinking. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to speak well in a group and/or client-facing environments.  
  • English language fluency to conduct detailed business and technical communication at a professional level.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy. 
  • Obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.

Reports to a manager-level position or above.
