Information Technology Compensation Plan
Salary Range: Pay Grade 4 - $32.14 - $46.24/Hour 
Shift Type: Full-Time 
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Network Operation Supervisor
  





EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible 



PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    Monitoring and responding to hardware, software, and network problems. This position is also responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of the district's network.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
    High School Diploma or GED
    Valid Texas driver's license
    Preference for applicants with Network Industry Certifications (Cisco, Palo Alto, A10 Networks, SolarWinds, etc.)
    Preference for applicants with college-level Computer Science studies



Special Knowledge/Skills:
    Network infrastructure engineering, implementation, and design
    Network Security (NERC CIP and NIST CSF)
    NAC solutions
    Cisco iOS, Palo Alto PAN OS, A10 ACOS, SolarWinds, etc.
    Maintain accurate documentation and coordinate network project activity
    Monitor critical system redundancy and security for disaster recovery procedures and preparedness
    Monitor network performance, and asset inventory, utilizing network management tools and following industry best practices
    Manage contractors and consultants on a per-project basis
    Create, maintain, and back up configurations for network equipment








Experience:
    Engineering/Implementation of new Layer 2/3 networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) that leverage EIGRP/OSPF and BGP protocols
    Engineering of new firewall, NAC, wireless installations
    Familiarity with A/V, security systems, cabling, and multicast
    Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from design to implementation
    Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members and non-technical staff
    Have a minimum of 2 years' experience with environments listed in the special skills section






MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    Manage district core routing and switching, wireless, firewall, and network encryption/decryption
    Provide second level network support from tiers of escalation troubleshooting local and cloud infrastructure
    Monitor network performance and integrity
    Create, oversee and test security measures
    Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
    Integrating new systems
    Maintain complete technical documentation
    Maintain inventory replacement schedule for 1, 3, and 5 year cycles
    Assist communication with vendors regarding licensing, maintenance, and support subscriptions
    Manage contractors and consultants as needed
    Perform other duties as assigned
