What does a 9 months remote job mean?

A '9 Months Remote' job refers to a position that is performed remotely, typically from home or another off-site location, for a duration of nine months. This arrangement allows employees to work outside of a traditional office setting, offering flexibility and often eliminating the need for commuting. Such jobs can be project-based, seasonal, or cover specific business needs for a set period. During these nine months, all work responsibilities and communications are usually handled online. This type of role is ideal for those seeking temporary or contract work with the benefit of remote flexibility.

What can I expect from working a 9-month remote contract position in terms of team integration and communication?

In a 9-month remote contract role, you can expect to join a team that relies heavily on digital communication tools such as Slack, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams. While you may not be on-site, effective collaboration is achieved through regular virtual meetings, project management platforms, and clear documentation. One common challenge is building rapport and staying aligned with team goals remotely, so proactive communication and participation are essential. Additionally, you’ll often be assigned specific projects or deliverables and will need to manage your time efficiently to meet deadlines without direct supervision.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote worker on a 9-month contract, and why are they important?

To succeed as a remote worker on a 9-month contract, strong self-management, time management, and relevant job-specific expertise are essential, typically demonstrated through prior remote work experience or proven performance in the field. Familiarity with digital collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, project management platforms, and cloud-based file sharing systems is often required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving skills help remote workers stand out in virtual environments. These skills ensure productivity, effective teamwork, and reliability when working independently over a fixed-term remote assignment.

Job description

Head of Sales (Remote, LATAM) - Build Viva\'s Sales Function from the Ground Up

Viva is hiring a Head of Sales to build and lead our expansion and new-logo sales motions from scratch. This is a remote, LATAM-based leadership role reporting directly to our Co-CEO, with full ownership of the playbook, the team, and the revenue number.

If you\'ve built a B2B sales engine before and you\'re ready to own one end-to-end, this is your seat.

The opportunity

Viva connects US companies with exceptional Executive Assistants, creating career-defining work for talented people across Latin America. We\'re 200+ people across 15+ countries. Our model works. Now we need the person who builds the engine to scale it.

You won\'t inherit a sales machine. You\'ll build one. You\'ll design the expansion playbook, open the new-logo motion, hire the team, and own the number.

What you\'ll do

  1. First 6–9 months - build the expansion playbook. The repeatable expansion motion for growing our existing US accounts. This is the #1 problem you\'ll own.

  2. Build the net-new logo motion, including outbound into enterprise target accounts, in close partnership with Marketing. This is the #2 problem you\'ll own.

  3. Build the team that runs the motion (Account Manager / Head of Sales Associate / Senior AE / other) to run the expansion playbook day-to-day.

  4. Hire, coach, and manage a lean sales team - AEs (current team is 2 AEs), RevOps and anyone else you believe we need.

  5. Work closely with Customer Success and Marketing so strategy stays aligned and revenue grows consistently.

Two numbers define this seat: expansion closed-won and new-sales closed-won.

Requirements

These are must-haves for this role. They reflect the specific commercial motion we\'re building at Viva:

  1. US selling experiencce: You\'ve personally closed deals with C-suite, VP, or Head-of-level buyers at US-based companies. This is who you\'ll be selling to at Viva, so you need real experience closing deals with this type of buyer.

  2. $50K–$150K ACV: You\'ve consistently worked in this deal-size range and are very comfortable with this sales cycle motion.

  3. Both sales motions: You\'ve owned outbound (new-logo) and expansion/upsell, not just one or the other.

  4. Team building: You\'ve hired and managed quota-carrying roles - AEs, Account Managers, RevOps.

  5. US travel + valid visa: This role requires ~25% US travel per month during the first 6–9 months. A valid US visa is required.

  6. Executive-level English: You\'ll be communicating with native high-level executives every day.

  7. 5+ years leading sales teams, though we care more about the magnitude of the problems you\'ve solved than the exact number.

Persona over industry. What matters most is who you\'ve sold to not the industry you sold from. Previous experience in industries like BPO, HR-tech, SaaS, or fintech can all be a strong fit; however, a staffing or TaaS background isn\'t required.

The details

  1. Location: Remote, based in Colombia, Mexico, or Central America (Americas time-zone overlap with US customers).

  2. Reports to: Co-CEO, directly.

  3. Compensation: Competitive OTE (base + performance variable), benchmarked to senior commercial leadership in LATAM. Reviews every six months.

Why people choose Viva

100% remote, forever. Comprehensive global health insurance (medical, dental, vision, mental health). Paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and family care days. Parental leave and flexible family support. A culture built on growth, ownership, and well-being. Competitive compensation with reviews every six months and performance bonuses.

4.7/5 on Glassdoor. We\'re proud of the experience we create.

How we hire

5-step process: Application → Intro interview → Practical skills assessment → Panel interview with other team members → Deep-dives with the co-founders

We move quickly and we respect your time.
