Job description

Computer Operator

Modern Woodmen of America is looking for a third-shift Computer Operator to execute and monitor our real-time and batch programs and systems. The successful candidate will have working knowledge of computer functions and detailed knowledge of scheduling batch jobs. Modern Woodmen of America is one of the nation’s largest fraternal benefit societies, with over $18 billion assets. Fraternals are unique membership organizations that pair the “member-owned” characteristic of a mutual insurance company with the “social mission” characteristic of a service organization. Responsibilities:

  • Operates computer equipment for scheduled, special, and test programs.
  • Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and EOY operation schedules and reports, analyzing projects to determine best schedule for production.
  • Receives and transmits data among third parties and monitors production processing.
  • Monitors printing systems so that the files are ready to be printed.
  • Works with external hardware and software vendors to schedule maintenance, software/hardware updates or changes.
  • Records and logs all production job errors, warning and operations problems.
  • Communicates with appropriate Information Technology staffing concerning job scheduling, production status, and equipment/program malfunctions.
  • Maintain Operational and Computer Room documentation for internal and external audit requirements.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

What we need:

  • Associate degree or specialized training in computer operations or related field, is preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of working with Windows OS Servers.
  • Working knowledge of batch systems, including monitoring and relaying critical incidents to the appropriate parties.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team structure.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn.

What we offer:

  • Pay: The hourly pay for this position is $26.00. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employment-based sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time, nor can we guarantee future sponsorship.
  • Work Arrangements: This is a full-time third shift position: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day), Monday- Friday, 7:00PM-3:00AM. This is a primarily remote position with occasional onsite requirements. Initial training, which may extend beyond the first month, would require onsite attendance and may occur across various shifts. Candidates must reside in the Quad City area and be able to report to the office on short notice as business needs arise. There may be occasional overtime, and you may be asked to cover other shifts due to illness, vacation, etc.
