Job description

Reports to: Production Manager
Cooperates with: Operations/Production, Safety, Procurement, Engineering, Human Resources
Located: Houston, TX
Primary Responsibility: The 2nd Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the team of 2nd shift employees and ensuring the efficient and high-quality production of products, parts, or components.
Shift: 2nd Shift, Monday - Thursday, 3:00 pm to 1:30 am.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Help ensure employees safely conduct themselves and safety measures are being complied with.
  • Supervise and lead a team of employees during the second shift. Facilitate daily team startup meetings and safety meetings.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to team members to ensure they meet their performance goals.
  • Oversee the efficient and effective operation of the second shift.
  • Ensure that all tasks and responsibilities are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the shift.
  • Monitor product or service quality to ensure it meets company and customer expectations.
  • Communicate with management on issues and production requirements through conversations, phone, or email.
  • Help support activities related to Quality and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Help lead continuous improvement activities on 2nd Shift.

Qualifications:
  • Experience managing teams, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret company documents including production drawings.
  • Strong leadership and management skills are essential to lead and motivate a team effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey instructions, report issues, and collaborate with other departments.
  • The ability to identify and address issues, make decisions under pressure, and implement solutions is crucial.
  • Basic Computer skills using applications such as email Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Secondary education or training in manufacturing and continuous improvement are desirable.
  • Experience in welding is desirable
