Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a 2nd shift Material Handler at our Mt. Airy, NC manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for efficiently and safely handling unfinished and/or finished product or material to ensure an orderly flow of raw materials and finished goods.
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining best in class quality standards. The successful candidate will be able to communicate with department supervisors, department operators, and production personnel on a daily basis, and maintain a well-organized work area that is safely stacked and properly labeled to achieve the necessary results to meet production and shipping schedules.
Your additional responsibilities as Material Handler will include:

  • Load/unload parts, finished goods and/or returned goods.
  • Check shipments to verify accuracy then manifest the order.
  • Ensure processing of orders meet customer requests, using a load sheet for gathering orders and or staging
  • Communicate with supervision and shortages or damaged products.
  • Assist with cleaning the shipping dock area and exterior shipping areas.
  • Wrap material/products to customer/Carpenter standard.
  • Other duties as deem necessary by supervision.
Skills and Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience in shipping environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Some manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills.
  • Must be able to use a computer in day-to-day operations.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and call-in with little notice.
  • On the job training provided.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 3:30pm – 12:00am
Pay rate: $17.05 to $17.32/hr
Carpenter Co. offers $.25 per hour shift differential for all hours worked on 2nd shift.
