The 3 month rule in a carpentry or similar trade context often refers to a probationary period during which an employer evaluates a new employee's skills, reliability, and fit for the role. During this time, workers may have limited job security or benefits, and successful completion can lead to permanent employment or increased responsibilities. It is common for employers to use this period to assess performance before offering full employment status.
