Purpose of the Carpenter Summer Internship

As a high school student that is 18 years old you can join our team for our 6-week internship program (June 15-July 31). Asa Carpenter/Shop Assistant Intern you will be learning the construction trade from Lead Carpenters as well as assisting the Shop Manager with acquiring materials and shop organizing.You will gain professional experience in the construction industry and knowledge of other career paths in the construction industry with John Grace.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has a positive attitude with a desire to learn; adaptable to the needs of the organization, including cross- departmental training when needed.
  • Takes pride in their work.
  • Reports to work on time.
  • Is Professional, following company-provided dress code and maintains good personal hygiene.
  • Available to work June 15-July 31, M-F, 40 hours a week

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Work alongside Lead Carpenters on job sites learning different skills from making accurate measurements and cuts, bathroom + kitchen remodels etc.
  • Job shadow leads from each department to learn their area of responsibilities to grow your skills.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is a very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
