During the initial license training phase, total compensation eligibility ranges from $159,000 to $182,000 annually (based on experience and prior license status), which includes a 15% annual incentive bonus, a sign-on bonus, and a $10,000 bonus distributed through training milestones, along with a comprehensive benefits package and a 401(k) with employer matching contributions.

Once the Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license is obtained, total compensation eligibility increases to $191,000 per year, which includes a target 15% annual bonus, a License Premium, and overtime pay at 1.5 times the base salary for mandated operational shift coverage.

Position Overview

We are looking for Initial License Trainees (ILT) to train as licensed Senior Reactor Operators (SRO) at the Clinton Nuclear Power Station in Clinton, IL.

Primary Purpose of the Role

The main objective of this position is to undergo training and prepare to fulfill the responsibilities of an Operations Shift Supervisor who possesses a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) License. Upon successful completion of the training, the candidate will be fully licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to oversee the licensed activities of reactor operators in the control room. Additionally, they will receive training to directly supervise both bargaining unit reactor operators and equipment operators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in Initial License Training (ILT), which encompasses classroom instruction, examinations, and on-the-job training and assessment.
  • Complete all training phases successfully to obtain an SRO license, enabling the performance of Operations Shift Supervisor duties.
  • Execute other job assignments and responsibilities as directed by management or in accordance with company policy, including emergency response, departmental coverage, call-outs, and support for outage activities in roles outside the department.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must meet one of the following criteria:
    • 1 year of Reactor Operator license experience at a comparable facility or 1.5 years at a non-comparable facility (comparable being PWR to PWR or BWR to BWR; non-comparable being PWR to BWR or BWR to PWR).
    • 1.5 years or more in a role equivalent to Reactor Operator (or Supervisor) at a military reactor (e.g., Power Plant Watch Engineer, Engineering Watch Supervisor, Reactor Operator, Engineering Officer of the Watch, Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor), with at least 1.5 years post-qualification.
    • A degree from a four-year program or equivalent in engineering, engineering technology, or physical sciences, or a professional engineer license, along with over 1.5 years as a qualified non-licensed operator or staff member, supervisor, or manager in work control, operations, engineering, outage management, maintenance, radiation protection, chemistry, or accredited training at a comparable facility (BWR or PWR). Managerial, staff engineer, or supervisor experience at a non-comparable plant may be credited on a 1.5:1.0 basis (i.e., over 2.25 years required for non-comparable facility), and 3 years required for a non-traditional degree.
    • Current or previous SRO Instructor certification with 4 years of experience at a comparable facility or 6 years at a non-comparable facility.
  • Must maintain minimum access or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and pass a favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties.
