Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU/Oncology position requiring 2 years of current ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details
  • Work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)/Oncology unit of a hospital setting
  • Adult patient population with diagnoses including hemorrhagic and hypovolemic shock, sepsis, septic shock, pneumonia, ARDS, craniotomy, ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, intracranial hypertension, and delirium
  • Performs specialized procedures including External Ventricular Drain management, ICP monitoring, Massive Transfusion Protocol, mechanical ventilation, heated high flow, BiPAP, CPAP, tracheostomy management, CRRT, and vasopressor titration
  • 13-week assignment on a Night shift (3x12 Hours, 19:00-7:30) or Day/Night rotating schedule based on department needs
  • Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period with changes based on staffing priorities
  • Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
  • Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of current ICU experience within the same specialty, consistently worked within the last 12 months
  • Prior travel RN experience required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line and central line management, blood product administration, PICC line management, and phlebotomy
  • Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
  • Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and continuous IV sedation preferred
  • Skilled in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Experience with CVA/acute stroke management and IV insulin protocols
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second acceptable from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing to adult surgical ICU and oncology patients requiring advanced monitoring and interventions
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at this or any Ohio State University hospital location
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with the contract and limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements urgently upon signing the contract, either in person or via mailed packet depending on distance from Ohio
