Job description

Compensation Type: Hourly
Compensation: $18.81
The Health Records Specialist is responsible for processing criminal background checks, drug screenings, and medical records for CNA (STNA) students entering healthcare facilities for clinical rotations. This role is essential for timely record processing, helping to reduce delays in program admissions and in student clinical placements.
Records Processing

  • Processes all CNA (STNA) health records, background checks, and drug screen clearances. Reviews, analyzes, and interprets documents submitted by all CNA (STNA) students' health records, to determine completion of health record requirements.
  • Advises CNA students of any deficiencies in their health record and indicates appropriate corrective action.
  • Adheres to Federal and State regulations and College practices and guidelines, to ensure institutional compliance.
  • Displays technical competence working within the student information system, document management/workflow system, and other electronic tools.
  • Scans and indexes all background check reports, student waivers, and adverse letters.
  • Maintains student health information to document encounter and action taken.
Department Support
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and practices sound ethical judgment toward privacy.
  • Provides guidance to students on documentation requirements and assists with navigating health records system.
  • Answers office related questions and provides guidance or advice on department and campus policies and processes.
  • Monitors office communications (phone, email, chat, etc.) to disperse or resolve inquiries.
  • Contributes toward achieving the office goal of successfully servicing students.
  • Assists with quarterly report of health records compliance.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a healthcare-related field.
  • *An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework, and experience may qualify a candidate.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
